A device that runs on the HSPA+ (Evolved High-Speed Packet Access) network will be available next week, Smart Communications, Inc. has announced, raising the ante in the competition for broadband speeds.

Its Smart Broadband Inc. (SBI) subsidiary says its latest broadband offering, the Smart Bro Rocket, is the fastest mobile broadband prepaid service, promising speeds of up to 12Mbps, the fastest among the Smart Bro Plug-it group. Rival Globe Telecom Inc.’s Tonino Lamborghini stick is the last one to make a similar claim.

The Smart Bro Rocket will be available at selected Smart Stores nationwide starting August 8, at the price of P3,995.
