    Default Apache Problems

    Hi Guys,

I'm having problems with Apache 2.0.58. It's not working and the error goes like this: No service named Apache2.

I tried what the net has got me.
    C:\Program Files\Apache Group\Apache2\bin>apache -k install -n "Apache2"

I got no errors with cmd but it's not working.
I visited my services.msc and there are no Apache2 that is registered as a service.

What can I do guys? I really need to use this freaking version of Apache even though I got Apache2.2 working already. This is like for our school thesis.

Hope you can help me, Guys. Thanks a lot!

Make sure apache service IS installed as a service in services.msc.

If it's not there then manually install it.

You can install Apache as a Windows service as follows from the command prompt at the Apache bin subdirectory

    Code:
    httpd -k install
    Specified Service Name
    Code:
    httpd -k install -n "ServiceName"
Specified Service Name and Configuration File
    Code:
    httpd -k install -n "ServiceName" -f "c:\files\my.conf"

    zhrike is correct.

but i'm kind of surprised why it wasn't added automatically when you installed it. Was it the win32.exe or the zip file?

If zip you have to do things manually. I personally prefer this because it doesn't add all that registry crap in windows and you won't need it in an actual apache installation anyway (if I were to assume your production server is on unix or linux). One less thing to worry about.

also if you used either one there's an %APACHE_DIR%\bin\startup.bat|shutdown.bat that does all the stuff for you.
