NAS (Network Attached Storage)

I am looking for a NAS, with gigabit lan and at least 2 usb ports.
I already looked up eBay, but nothing there (Philippines only).
Manufacturer does not matter (D-Link, WD, NetGear, whatever).

even on computer shops this is hardly available here - tried looking for one last year. hopefully you'll be better luck.

8k only? That sound good.
But I just figured out that it does not support NTFS or FAT32 formatted drives, has no USB port for external storage, and has temperature issues. More important, it does not support 1.5TB HDD's.

yes you are correct. it does not support ntfs nor fat32 as it uses EXT2/EXT3 file system. no issues reading under windows (havent tried with any linux distro) nor music/videos on my media player (astone ap-100). it has one usb port for usb printers to act a print server. firmware v1.08 already supports up to 2TB hard drives which gives you a total of 4TB of storage (2x2TB HDDs in JBOD). temperature is entirely dependent on device activity. large file transfers or extensive hard drive activity increases temperature so it is best to place the device in a well ventilated area. an extra space will give the device more breathing room to keep it cool. opening the front panel cover will also help keep the device lower down its temperature during prolong usage.

yes w/ firmware v1.08 update it supports 2TB hdds, im saving up to buy QNAP for future upgrade, more usb's for printer server purposes plus faster data transfer rates compared to the old dlink model. same link as stated above by @ethzneuron

get a qnap or synology.

i use both and they work wonders.
look them up in tipidpc.com
