Can anyone post a step by step guide here on how to root and manipulate android phones, for blokes like me who's a techno dummy? In plain simple "techno-jargon free" english?

Our good friend Google doesn't seem to be of any help at all.

@Chanbri -- Checked the link you gave me. Unfortunately, it's still too technical for me, the terms / jargon they're using. Anyway, i've managed to root my DEFY & Milestone. Now my problem is how do i custom update it from AOS 2.1 Eclair to AOS 2.2 Froyo?

uhm.. these might be of some help..
for your motorola defy i was able to read that the official 2.2 for the philippines and other countries in southeast asia have been cancelled, so can't really provide any solution for this without going into really technical terms,

Sorry cant help you much on the defy. I only have the milestone 1 and the samsung sgs2. I think my motorola milestone needs me to tinker with it. hehehe. its on v2.2 na pero wala pako naka install custom roms. kinda busy tinkering with the sgs2 with all the tweaking around...
