Windows unable to complete format

Good day istoryans.

I got this error message when I added a new hard drive to my system. "Windows unable to complete format"

Here is the situation:
I bought a new HD and switched it to my old HD as my OS drive. I installed the new HD with the OS with no problems. However my old HD (which was working before since this was my previous HD before upgrade) is no longer working and I am unable to format it. I can see the HD and detect it but I am unable to format it. I tried reformatting it but I am getting that error message.

ANY ideas on how to solve this?

IDE? SATA? i would try to reseat or replace data and power cables...

if you have a spare HD that has the same model, try to swap the logic boards, if dili gyud siya ma format you probably have a h.drive failure

try nko ni sir. just had this problem when nag change ko new HD. i dont think guba.on ni akoa old HD kay ning work ni today before ko nagswap. il update you if okay na.

try lang to change ang cable then nig maka load naka sa windows adto ka sa diskmanagement then check kong naa ba lain partition which maoy naka cause sa error... e try ug remove partition para ang mo gawas unallocated na siya usa ka mag format...

possible cause ana during sa pag remove nimo sa sata cable na dislocate siya kay perti ra baya na ka gagmay ang cable.... better use katong naa clip gani sa end point para dili ma tarog siya bisan imo pa birahon... tag 70php to sa buy and sell...
