The writer of that article now works (as an editor) at the prestigious Financial Times newspaper of London. Imagine how many important people around the world have heard this story of incompetence & bureaucracy? I hope that some high ranking official feels humiliated enough to actually make some long overdue changes to the system.

As far as I know naay POEA sa airport which is dali ra magkuha. But yes I agree, we really need to change the system in some of the Govt agencies. Before ang NSO grabe kaau ka hassle, karon na improve na.

Thanks TS for sharing a very informative link, speaks of the realities of being an OFW and how our government offices are helping (sarcastic) them.

the writer is an idealistic journalist.. funny how she could be detached from the realities of POEA and government processing "efficiency" when she used to work with the Inquirer man unta.

What a way to treat our "Bagong Bayani" kuno...it's a mockery in broad daylight.

I don't think she's detached from the realities of our government processes rather I feel that she's more of overwhelmed at the actual and sad realities that she experienced first hand, as an OFW herself. Good thing that she's a journalist herself and had perfectly narrated to us the nightmares of our OFWs.

I don't know if there's still hope for our government agencies really.

the "bagong bayani" label is more than a painful mockery. it is like a curse attached to OFWs.

you have to become one to really appreciate how insulting being called a bagoong bayani...but then, everything else falls by the way side once the OFW is enjoying the life abroad. everything becomes just whispers in the wind, or mere characters on a forum post.
