    Default NETWORK CABLE UNPLUGGED

My LAN gets that error msg every 3-4 seconds then disappears. Now my connection is working again. Then after 20-30 mins, it goes "network cable unplugged" again. I'm on a brand new Linksys router by the way and I've already set my NIC's link speed and duplex to 100 full negotiation. Do I need to change any setting in the router's config or did I miss something? Any help/advise would be greatly appreciated.

    @ GlassMoon

your need to isolate the cause. try to:

    > use the other lan ports on your router.
    > use another patch cable
    > use another NIC, desktop, laptop, etc

does your cable exceed max length? are there possible interferences affecting your cable? etc.

    good luck!

I am betting that your router reboots from time to time... try to observe the light status when that happens...

seeteemahsuu: Hey sir! Good to see you posting again! Thanks for the info. All my pc accessories are working fine. The cable though, is long -- 25m! But it seems to be working fine. It worked fine when we were still on a switch. Again, thanks for the help, sir. I'll keep the cable length in mind.

Master BeoR: I was thinking that too. But the router is brand spanking new. Why would it do that? Bigfoot Oracle already changed the local IP from 192.168.x.x to 10.0.x.x to ensure that we won't have a conflict with the ISP's router's IP range (they're using 192.168.x.x). Another problem is that our PC is upstairs and the router is down stairs so I guess I have to move the pc downstairs to do some troubleshooting. Any more thoughts/advise, sir?

A friend had something similar a while ago. He solved it by setting the lan cards speed to auto. He had it set to 100mbit.

It is IMPOSSIBLE to have an IP conflict if you're using a router. Unless you have hard coded IPs in your TCP/IP Properties, in which case, I didn't. And yeah, my cable's working fine.

Bigfoot Oracle switched it back to full auto-negotiation and it worked. Though we still get the same problem about 2 or 3 times in a day but at least it ain't as bad as before. How long is his CAT-5 cable?

So, 100m max. Mine is only 25m which is 75m short from the max length. It shouldn't cause that much of a problem then.
