funny, i saw their ad in the sunstar, but the site (www.cebuwebawards.com) redirects to last year's results and doesnt accept submissions or nominations. what's happening, anyone know?

it's nothing more than business for them... they don't even know what they are saying they don't have any integrity. they would just accept the fees and give away some of their revenue for prizes and they walk away with all the rest!

Bitaw .. naa pato last time pag 2004 sa SM na web awards ... imbis ila ipakita ang mga binuhat sa mga contestants .. ga kanta kanta man noon. Unsa mai labot sa kanta ug ICT? haaaa? ... imbis ang mga webdesigner noon maka kita ug employer or possible investor ... ang mga singer na noon ang ma discover ani? .. haskang lawgawa mga tawhana ... ang kato time nga gi kanta-kanta gipakita nalang unta to nila ang mga entries sa mga ni apil.

Ang ila unta purpose anang ICT show is to convince companies from abroad to put up business here in Cebu to invest here in Cebu - ang kanang Web Awards nila is to showcase unta kung unsai capabilities sa mga cebuano .. na unsa baya ni sila oi.

Aber unsaon man pagka kita sa mga potential investors kung kanta kanta ang naa sa stage? ... Imbis maka kita unta to ang mga investors then maka ingon .. oo naa man diay daghan maayo diri sa Cebu .. ari nalang ta mag tukod ug branch diri. So ang resulta - maka trabaho ang ato mga web designers diha ug uban pa.

Ang kani ato governo .. mu tabang unta na sila labi na sa kato bago ni graduate ..and the ICT show is one best way to attract potential investors here in Cebu.

Mag singer nalang kaha ko noh? .... pagka yabaga gyud mga tao-hana .. niguro lang ila.

hey! how bout we create our own web awards! using the name Istorya.Net Web Awards? di ba nindot na, mo ask lang ta sa tag iya sa board nga iyang permission. kinsa ganahan kay mag organize ko....

hehe, yeah, that crossed my mind too. but first let's see what happens with the cebu web awards. how will they try to put on a show with no entries? the deadline has already passed and the website is still static from last year. and there were no posters about the cebu web awards anywhere, not even at the ccci itself (i went there 2 weeks ago on unrelated business). and the scheduled event is coming up fast. will the ccci be able to put on a good show with only entries from friends and relatives of the organizers?

if it's a total disaster, as i expect it to be, then yes, let's organize a different web awards, no fees to pay to enter your site, sponsored by major corporations.

ang problema man gud sa cebuwebawards kay dili mga web designers ang nag-organize...especially ang mga judges..cguro ato i-raise sa ccci nga mga web designers lang ang maghandle sa CEBUWEBAWARDS..dili mga business managers or unsa pa diha nga walay alamag sa web designing...

daghan mga maayo nga web designers diri sa cebu pero walay power to handle the cebuwebawards...unsa may alamag sa mga edaran nga judges..

im sure cebuwebawards would be as exciting as www.webbyawards.com if and only if web designes including graphics designers, developers, and all those web pro ang maghandle...

anyways just my opinion...

i'm not a web designer but i agree with setting up with a "real" web awards. anyone would like to spearhead? let me know, i can give my support.

greyfox: i guess you are right, and this year they will also use singing to cover up the lack of any entries.

joey: the only problem with getting all the good web designers in cebu together to organize a web award event is that, all the real contenders for the top prizes will automatically be disqualified from entering and participating.

riko: the organizers would actually have to be people like yourself and myself, who appreciate good design, but are not designers themselves.

we're actually planning a web awards, of course you can but as a committee, i've seen your works so lets give other designers some chance :mrgreen:

how bout we discuss these things in person, but first we must gather names on those who want to attend so that we might be able to set the time and place. what do you think?
