my sister had her annual executive check up may of last year, and she was given a clean bill of health.

july-- naa sya na feel na lump sa iya left breast. pa-check up dayon sya.

sometime in august, gi-fine needle aspersion test sya, mammogram and the whole nine yards, naa na dayon signs of malignancy.

    second opinion... same thing.

december -- she had a frozen section biopsy where it was really confirmed nga malignant na gyud so her left breast was removed same day.

we're going to have her first chemo session after sinulog.

she has practically survived breast cancer at stage 2A and the chemo is just a preventive measure against recurrence. but what really saved her-- early detection.

there's no predicting it. regular check-ups sa OB-GYNE and daily self breast exams after taking a bath are two of the most important part of every woman's (or man's-- naa sad breast cancer sa men rare as it is) life.

anything nga unusual nga imong ma detect sa imong breast like soreness around the nipple area, lumps or discoloration ang advise nga e-consult dayon ug doctor kay aron mahibaw-an ug sayo. Ang causes, some are genetic.. kon naa kay family history ug breast cancer, there is a chance nga motunga diha nimo...other than that, it could be from diff. factors. So, it is important to have regular self-breast exams and a mammogram.
