Awesome Bike Made of Lego Technics

Today there're numerous LEGO fans that come up with some truly amazing sculptures.

One of the latest works of art made using LEGO blocks is a LEGO bike called v1000.

It is worth mentioning that this is not the first LEGO bike but it is definitely a bike that deserves a lot of attention.

The bike is built using Lego Technics, which make v1000 more functional. Unfortunately there's no name of the work's author.

LEGO Teams up with Mercedes to Launch the Biggest Technic Line Model

Another incredible model from the LEGO's Technic line has been recently launched. The Technic line itself offers kids of all ages the possibility to create more complex structures than the usual LEGO blocks.

LEGO decided to collaborate with Mercedes-Benz in order to come up with a multi-purpose Unimog U 400 truck made using parts from the Technic line.

It would be interesting to note that the German car manufacturer calls its Unimog U 400 truck "the world's most versatile workhorse."

The LEGO model of the "workhorse" features 2048 parts and is made at the 1:12.5 scale, which makes it the biggest LEGO Technic model ever launched.

To reflect the numerous applications that the Unimod boasts, LEGO decided to use in its model a pneumatically operated crane gripper arm able to rotate nearly 360 degrees. This is possible thanks to an electrically controlled turntable. The front of the model can be turned into a snow plow.

The model also features engine pistons, portal axles and individual suspension that soften the movement of the four-wheel vehicle when it is taken off-road.

The launch of the new LEGO model was synchronized with the 60th anniversary of the first Unimog that rolled off the production line back in 1951. LEGO fans will be able to get their hands on the LEGO Unimog starting August. The model will have a price tag of around EUR190 or $260.

Minimalist Artwork Composed of 274,400 Lego Blocks

Lene Wille is an artist from Denmark who decided to create an original work of art out of white LEGO blocks. Initially his work was created for the Amsterdam World Trade Center.

If you look at the sculpture from afar it will appear as a simple curved white wall that resembles a part of a tidal wave.

Only when you look closer you understand that the 25-foot-long work is composed of LEGO bocks, in fact 274,400 of them.

Entitled Metaphorical Horizons, the sculpture took 6 weeks to make. Wille was helped by his team in his studio. In order to see the whole construction process, click here.

It would be interesting to note that the Danish artist drew inspiration from Dom Hans van der Laan, a 20th-century monk and architect, and Daniel Libeskind's Jewish Museum in Berlin.

According to Wille, she was fascinated with "the eternal horizontal line" and how its ends ultimately meet up in order to "create the perfect circle".

Remote-controlled Lego Replica of Sandcrawler from Star Wars

he already famous Lego wizard "Marshal Banana" managed to come up with another amazing Lego structure - this time it's the Jawa Sandcrawler from Star Wars.

In order to recreate the futuristic vehicle the artist required 10,000 pieces and more than 9 months of hard work.

One of the most interesting features of the Lego replica of the Jawa Sandcrawler is that the vehicle can be remotely-controlled.

With the help of a remote control the user can not only move the vehicle forward and backward, but also raise and lower its front ramp and operate the vehicle's crane. In addition, the user can activate the interior conveyor belt.

LEGO Version of the Google Street View Car

This cute little LEGO Street Car is a prototype model of the Google Street View vehicle. The car was built by Mark Crosbie. It includes a GPS sensor, a tough chassis and 4 cameras that take pictures.

n addition, the small manually-controlled LEGO Street View car features NXT Motor for steering, NXTBeee to transmit telemetry (Battery level, GPS Coordinates) to a receiver and PSPNx to get commands from any PSP controller. The latter captures a picture and log GPS coordinates, latitude and longitude from dGPS.

NXT produces a file in KML format in the flash file system which is afterwards uploaded to computer. After you open the file in Google Earth, you can see the path that the vehicle traveled and view the pacemarks for each image captured. The images can bee observed by clicking on the pacemark.

Artists Used Lego to Create the Map of Europe

A lot of artists have already demonstrated their skills using Lego blocks. Now it's the turn of Bruno Kurth and Tobias Reichling.

The two artists managed to create a Euromap using pieces of Lego.

Their work measures 3,84 m x 3,84 m. The artists used 53.500 Lego pieces and spent about 6 months to create the Euromap.

In order to make their construction more entertaining Kurth and Reichling decided to make some of the most famous monuments in Europe (using Lego pieces as well) and place them on the map.

The 44 monuments were made with help of Vanessa Graf, Tanja Kusserow-Kurth, Torsten Scheer.
