    Default Newbie's inquiry about Photography

Newbie here and I have several questions that I would like to ask....I like to hear it from the experts (suggestions, advise and tips) about photography...hope you guys can help.

    1. When you take a picture, what are the things you look for?

    2. What inspires you to specialize in one or more photography field (i.e. landscape, portrait, panoramic, macro and the like)?

    3. Why are you specializing on one field of photography?

    4. What tips, suggestion and advise you can give for a newbie like me who wants to be in photography?

'Coz as of the moment, I do have an idea on what to shoot but I don't know what aspects or things that I need to consider before taking pictures....Like, I'm interested in portrait (people's expression, etc.) but don't know where to start.

It all started when I took a picture of an old window and somebody commented, "I don't understand!" What does she mean by that? For me, I just find it "cool" or nice...

Hope you guys can help me out with this...

    Mam/Sir,

    my direct answers would be:

    1. Story and Light
    2. myself
    2. passion

    3. do not limit yourself asking questions on the internet, go out and shoot as often as you can. If you stop shooting because you are busy, then the more you should shoot. Practice the craft anywhere and everywhere, with this process you will know yourself. Pay attention to credible critics and learn from it. The more you shoot and experiment, the more questions you will ask... as the questions builds up.... then thats the time for you to join a photography workshop for you to quench your thirst for answers.

    have fun and shoot more

    1. it depends on what i am shooting e.g. portrait, landscape, macro etc. etc. but one thing is common in all photography genre LIGHT... it's all about the LIGHT... second is EMOTION... COMPOSITION and so on and so forth....

    2. other photographers work and same as Recon's answer myself
    3. Because it is where I excel most and somehow found my passion in terms of photography

    4.
    a. read the manual
    b. aperture, shutter, iso, light and composition - the very fundamentals of photography
    c. be a people person
    4. accept criticisms and be a critic yourself (of your works and the works of others)
    5. don't stop learning
    6. make the most out of what you have
    7. don't be a gear head specially if you don't have the moolah to spend.
    7. join photowalks
    8. join a group or create a group who has the same passion as you.
    9. learn to use google
    10. shoot, shoot, shoot, shoot, shoot, shoot

    1. story. by the time your image comes out, it should in itself tell a story
    2. you have to specialize because you cant be a jack of all trades but a master of none. besides, gasto kaau if mag specialize ka tanan.
for landscapes - UWA glass, filters, CPL, etc
    portraits - prime glass, flash/strobes, umbrella/softbox, etc
sports/avian - telephoto glass, teleconverters, etc
    3. shoot shoot shoot, dont worry about shutter count sa imo cam, its rated to take at least 100K shots. spoiled/bad shots/exposures? ayaw kaguol, digital nata ron, dali ra i.erase sa memory card.

to the person who commented " i don't understand" sa imo window pic, tell her " its the world thru my eyes, give me time to further my skills, and by then you'll learn to appreciate my world thru your eyes"

    now go and shoot.
