Question Restaurants Which Need A Wake-Up Call...

The purpose of this thread is to illuminate emerging problems with once good restaurants. Hopefully the owners will benefit from the feedback and put their places back on the right track. Please.... no ranting or ax grinding, this is all about constructive criticism.

    Politics (Liloan)

Like an oasis in the desert I was delighted to stumble across Politics Cafe Bar. There are a few nice subdivisions between Consolacion and Liloan, yet limited dining choices and so it was with great excitement that I ventured into this elegant looking place.

Stylish, clean with perfect soft lighting; so far so good. Attentive staff greeted us with menu in hand and allowed my companion and I to select our table. Drinks were delivered within a couple of minutes, we ordered a burger and chicken cordon bleu and relaxed with a newspaper. The meal arrived in good time, less than twenty minutes and was beautifully presented. Both of us enjoyed our food and remarked that in terms of price the result exceeded expectations quite considerably.

My next visit (some two months later) was a different story. This time a party of six we were greeted by a waiter who seemed very unsure of himself. We were seated and presented with two menus (between six of us). The staff were all huddled behind the bar and despite us being very near we had to actually get up and approach them so we could order drinks. Two of the drinks selected were "out of stock" we selected alternatives. It was a long fifteen minutes before the drinks arrived, one was missing..... apparently also out of stock! French fries were unavailable today and so our choice of side-orders was limited to rice or mashed potato. My main course was also not available and so I had to choose again. The food took longer than last time and arrived staggered so that the wife of my friend received her pasta five minutes after everybody else. The food was fine although the presentation was lacking the previous finesse. Being the only customers in the restaurant I was a little shocked when almost as soon as we had finished eating we were advised that the they would be closing in just under an hour. Did they really need to tell us that?

I'm feeling frustrated and a little annoyed considering that I recommended this place to a whole bunch of people including our less than impressed guests, but most of all I felt sad that a place which I thought successfully "nailed it" could lose it's sparkle so soon. Perhaps we were unlucky, but there were on this occasion a variety of problems and in my book consistency is crucial in the hospitality business. I will visit again and the third time will be the ultimate decider.

    Casa Verde Ayala Terreces

This is not my case or any experience... I have read so many complaints that this restaurant discriminates customers out there... Like one case, there was mag-asawa who were celebrating their anniversary... It so happen ang babaye kay naka uniform pa as dizer sa gaisano metro... Pagsulod nila, wala dayun sila gi-entertain... Pero foreigner na gani ang customer, mohatag dayun sila og menu... Or any rich people out there, maayu sila mo entertain... Pero if the customer is just a simple people like mag shorts nga mag sandals ra or kadtong example nga naka uniform as dizer sa gaisano metro, dili jud ka entertain...

Casa Verde must avoid that attitude... Naka-minus sila mga customers... Dili sila maayu og customer service diha sa Ayala branch... But dont get me wrong, I find the Ramos branch and IT Park branch nga okey kaayu ang service ngadto.... It so happen bati ang service sa Ayala Terreces branch...

agree ko nimo ani bro.. me and my friend nag lunch ngadto pagsud namo the usual greeted by the staff then look for a table.. adto gyud ko preferred lingkod kanang sa kilid na pina sofa style kay comfortable kaayo when were about to sit na somebody told us (not the staff that welcomes us) nga reserved na daw ang table.. so ok lang and we opted to seat at the table near the door.. we ordered, eat, drink.. and then came a korean couple arrived (this time the guy told us nga naka reserve ang table) maoy nag welcome sa koreans.. greeted politely and ask "table for 2?" the couple nod.. to my surprise didto niya gihatod sa table nga supposedly amo ta lingkoran.. WTF are those tables intentionally reserved for koreans or foreigners perhaps.. pagdayon gyud gawas namo timing pod nga ang guy naa sa door pina ana pag "thank you sir!" ako gyung giingnan "sila diay nagpa reserve ato na table bay?" na itoy gyud nga nauwaw ang hinampak..

agree sad ko ana. kay ako mismo naka suway sad ko diha casa verde sa ayala. basta mga foreigner onahon dayon. Pero naka bawos ko kay pag hatag nila sa ako order ni lakaw man ko.

Pero in fairness sa casa verde I think most of the restaurant here always discriminate fellow filipino's dili lang restuarant hasta na grocery.

I think workers are sometimes more attentive to foreign guests because they leave bigger tips, especially those who are on vacation. Probably not the policy of the owners, but who knows?
