my whole rig only consumes 400W (full load) but my PSU is 650W.

what are the disadvantages/advantages?

disadvantage : kas kwarta kay mag upgrade man ka para ma sulit imong 650w

There are no disadvantages for getting a high rated PSU, the advantage for this is that you put lesser strain on your PSU making it run cooler and more silent and at a longer life span.

It also gives you more headroom for upgrades down the road, but im not saying you go out and buy a 1200Watt for a 400watt system. 650watts is fine.

for psu's it shud more than enough the total wattage of ur rig at full load. this applies to anything electronics. the power supply shud deliver enough power to various devices attached to ur motherboard. mas oks hinoon ang 650. 500 also just works fine
