Default Phils Makes International News For Wrong Reasons (Again)

The Philippines is often overlooked by the international community, however when we do hit the news more often than not it is for all the wrong reasons. The latest humiliation is the radiation / betadine text message hoax which (apart from being in incredibly bad taste) quickly spread across the nation causing panic.

While the Japanese are bravely and solemnly picking up the pieces of their shattered lives due to the terrible disaster which is still unfolding we as their neighbors should exercise better judgment and learn from their "society first" mindset.

Philippine authorities: Text on radiation danger is hoax - CNN.com

Yeah, some of the commenters on CNN are fairly hostile, but generally a lot more toned-down than those found on Yahoo's main site.

the issue here is not who spread this hoax but instead questioned us all Are we ready if ever this might occur or not.... d man sd siguro mag panic dayon ang mga tao(out of stock na d.i ang betadine?? hehehe), i remember katong panahon sa issue sa h1n1 the phil govt had said na layo ra daw or somewhat ingon ana nga lisod daw na ma infect ang philippines with that virus kay kuno secure and carefull daw ang mga authorities then 1 day naa ra d.i toy na biktima, im not saying nga way klaro or unsa ang atong mga authorities kay base sa ako nabantayan once an issue is brought up and some bad speculation arise and the authorities confirm that the bad speculation is false then the people had a peace of mind nga mo lead sa compyansa and when the speculation had brought to reality REGRETS dayon sunod... the point is katong txt message weather TRUE or FALSE we should be ready..
    just my two cents

Another FAIL moment for the Philippines.

Seriously, who would believe that crap...when I saw that thing in my mobile, I just said "Maybe some idiot will believe this..."; Japan had 2 nukes blown them to kingdom come in WWII and that didn't affect the Philippines not one bit in terms of radiation.
