MANILA, Philippines – The government of Taiwan announced today the lifting of the visa restriction it earlier implemented against the Philippines.
In a letter to former Senator Mar Roxas, Taiwan Minister Timothy Yang said they will resume processing the work permits for all Filipino in the area.
“Online visa applications will also be available for the Philippine tourists,” added Yang in the letter to Roxas, who was the special emissary of President Benigno Aquino III to Taiwan.
The Taiwan official welcomed the concern of the Philippine government on easing the rift created by the deportation of Taiwan’s citizens to mainland China last February.
The decision to lift the visa ban came after the visit of Roxas in Taiwan last Feb. 21 and March 14.
“I would like to thank you (Roxas) for your tireless efforts to return our relation to normal. I appreciate your particular visit, which paved way for a quick resolution to this unfortunate incident,” Yang told Roxas.
“We are looking forward to seeing the deepening of cooperative relations between the Republic of China (Taiwan) and the Philippines,” Yang pointed out.
