Science Fiction and Fantasy

Hi. Does anyone else here love SFF as a literary genre? I've been reading a lot of fantasy novels lately but I'm a big fan of science fiction as well.

Currently finishing Patrick Rothfuss' Name of the Wind which is Book 1 of the Kingkiller Chronicle. Out na ang book 2 but haven't found a copy here yet. It's mind-blowing!

Next up is George R. R. Martin's A Song of Fire and Ice series. Haven't found a copy of the first book though which is very frustrating.

Favorite SF books are cyberpunk novels by William Gibson, The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy series by Douglas Adams, the Robot Series by Asimov and anything by Kurt Vonnegut (if you consider his work SF).

Since childhood, Science fiction and fantasy is my staple, as a reader and a writer-- H.G Wells, JRR Tolkien, James Barrie, Lewis Carroll, Jules Verne, Frank Herbert, Isaac Asimov, Richard Matheson among many many others.

My present favorites are David Eddings' Belgariad and Mallorean, Ursula K. Le Guin's The EarthSea Cycle and yes I did enjoy some of the later books of Harry Potter and Anne McCaffrey's Harper Hall trilogy.

@dwardwarbinx, are you looking forward to the HBO series GAME OF THRONES coming this April 2011?

I read a lot of Fantasy when I was younger pero last few years kay more into SF, urban fantasy and contemporary novels na, so wala pako kabasa Game of Thrones and even Robert Jordan's series. For shame! I'm planning to read GoT before April tho.

Ma-release na bya ang latest Song of Fire and Ice na book June or July (?) this year!

Any reading material of Isaac Asimov. best pick to begin with "The Foundation Series"

and oh i forgot... some good underrated folks which might you ended up in loving..

"harry potter" feel disappointed on the film (the picturisation and the set.up were great in the

movies but they failed at characterisation).
