Cebu hospital faces probe after janitor performed catheter insertion

A Cebu hospital faces an investigation for allegedly ordering a janitor to insert a catheter to one of its patients' organ.

Radio dzBB's Cebu affiliate on Friday reported that Cebu's Bantayan town Mayor Ian Chris Escario ordered the incident at the Bantayan District Hospital investigated.

The report said the incident occurred last Tuesday, when patient Astero Rivera, 68, went to the hospital to complain that he had trouble urinating.

But instead of ordering a medical personnel to do the catheter insertion, doctors allegedly ordered hospital janitor Arturo Abello to perform the procedure.

Doctors at the time were busy because of the large number of patients at the hospital, the report said.

While Rivera finally was able to urinate, he complained that he was urinating blood after the catheter insertion.

An initial investigation showed Abello started working at the hospital as a security guard but was "promoted" to utility worker. — LBG, GMA News

Di man sila willing mubayad sa atong mga Nursing graduates gd bro...

I've seen how understaffed our public hospitals are... and to think, di pa jud ni sila manawat og regular nurses to work...they just want volunteers kay maka-kwarta man sila kung volunteer nurses ilang kwaon (I think these nurses have to pay Php 1500 for 3 months)... omg.

Yeah, exactly... Look at our Tertiary public hospital here in Cebu... ngkalata ang mga pasyente oi... wa jud kaau mga staff or volunteer man lamang. Madahan kag 2 ka nurses ra ang naa to cater to 50-patient ward... dang.

undrstaffed cla, yes. Pero based sa akong nakita, sa ccmc, dako man sweldo ang mga nurse compara sa mga private hospitals. sa private hospitals naa pa jd volunteers nga dli sweldohan, instead pa bayron pa cla.
