Acer Travelmate 6291 - Recovery Disk error 0x00000e9

guys, has anyone around here encountered a similar error above with their acer laptops when trying to do a recovery using the recovery disk?

a little overview...

this is the acer recovery disk that was created when the unit was first used. it was working before, tried using both the recovery partition and the 2 recovery dvd's a couple times in the past and it worked fine.

i am suspecting that this is caused by installing ubuntu (maybe somehow it messed up the OEM partitions). but i didn't delete the PQSERVICE (recovery partition) of acer when i installed ubuntu. i left it as it was.

when i decided to get it back to its original OS, i tried the recovery partition but it didn't work (unable to find something...).

so i then tried the recovery dvd. it will start (but after a long while) to load the windows files then comes up with an error 0x00000e9 and quits it will not go any further.

Restore Failed- reason 0x00000e9
Click OK to restart the computer.

bro, obviously na change jud ang partition ana since lahi man ang system sa ubuntu... Linux based mana siya... Lahi na siya ug file system and wala pud na siya mag gamit ug FAT or NTFS.... Simple rana bro, try reformatting your drive using the xp installer or win7... basta ayaw lang to ang recovery niya nga disk gamita... Or win98 ba, then just delete the partition created by ubuntu and reformat your disk drive, you can used fdisk.exe from win98... Basta after ma successful gani na ug format then you can use the recovery disk which was provided by acer...

o ako na na try and windows 7 installer, akong gpang delete tanan partition unya akong gi format to ntfs then akong gipa run ang recovery disk... d man gihapon so akong gi installan og windows 7, ok man ni install man...

akong gi full erase ang HDD using seatools (kay seagate man ang iyang HDD) unya ako nasad gipa run ang recovery disk, same gihapon mahitabo, mo loading windows files ra unya same error nsad...

sayangan sad ko sa orig OS nya gud though pde ra gud nako gamitan og W7 nga P#@%@#% version

waahhhhhhh ang media mismo ang problema!

akong gi copy as image sa hard disk then akong gi burn usab to the lowest speed ni ok na!

na unsa kaha ni nga ni work man ni siya nga recovery dvd's sa una unya wah man say mga garas...

bahala na basta ok na!
