will a DDR, say PC333, combined with another DDR, PC400 or higher, still work? i've heard people say they don't. pls clarify..

It usually will, its just that the DDR400 will run at DDR333 speed. It's usually recommended to use the same brand and the same timings to prevent incompatibilities. Good luck!
