Default ....elephant ancestor will be revived....

Japanese researchers will launch a project this year to resurrect the long-extinct mammoth by using cloning technology to bring the ancient pachyderm back to life in around five years time.

what i can say to this?

    - i think there is a REASON why these (dinosaurs and other extinct animals/plants/fish) have become extinct...... reviving it will probably lead to reviving other dinosaurs.....

i can always relate these types of news (cloning) to Jurassic Park trilogy....and i don't want to be in it...

    I like these comments...

Okay all the people living in poverty in this world, starving, unsheltered, uneducated, etc.,
all the diseases in this world that people desperately need a cure, but someone is spending millions
of dollars (or yen in this case) to clone and animal that nature through evolution brought to extinction...
    ...and...

Didn't they watch what happened at the Jurassic Park?

I agree.. don't want to revive those pre-historic creatures. Nature has its natural way of selection... why the hell spend tons of money where we can spend it on something even more important.

For me I don't have any problems with reviving this specie.. cause that's what our minds are meant for, to think, to learn, to adopt and to create new things, as long as we're not messing up with mother nature then it's ok as long as we can't harm anything.

It's not that I agree with human cloning, but time will tell that maybe one day human cloning will save us from human extinction so it's good to have that knowledge..

bisan mabuhi pa ni ang mamoth .. mangita sad guro ni cla ug tugnaw .....

why not spend money on it ....

if we never spent money on things like this at the start of 1 AD .. then we will still be stone age..

    budget lng gud ...

    naay percent sa charity

    percent sa science

D ba if we try to revive an extinct animal then it should be added back to the food chain to which na adjust na adtong pagka extinct sa animal. It could get messed up right? Then eventually ma messed up ang ato mother nature.

But I like the idea na humankind is doing this for knowledge sake.
