    Default Hospitals, abusing nurses!

May i ask all the nurses on the forum, what is your stand regarding the status of nurses in the Philippines? not enough health care insurance, sick compensation "under employment", nurse - patient ratio, and nurses privileges... a little amendments on this please Mr. Government!

Sus. Dili gusto ang gobyerno nga wagtangon na kay d na cla maka libre sa services sa nurses. Dili lang maka libre, maka kwarta pa jud.

It's sad to know that our own government who is sworn to protect its citizens is the one exploiting them.

Sigh... Wala nila huna-hunaa nga kadako sa gasto ug hago sa mga ginikanan ug estudyante unya ingon ani-on lng sa government. Wala na jud ni uwaw atong gobyerno.

    @ TS ...

Proven ba gyud na siya ? Mas maayo if maka hatag ka ug data pod ana since as much as reklamo dayon ta sa gobyerno , we dont look at ourselves first as nurses in the first place .

Mind you , kana mag intern ka stepping stone lang na . You cant call that EXPERIENCE , pila ra gud ka mag INTERN ka , 1 semester ?

And when you say mag INTERN or PRACTICUM ka ... di ra man nursing ang naay ingon ana . Tanan kurso or halos tanan mo agi man ug INTERNSHIP , OJT or PRACTICUM .

Whats funny lang , daghan kaayo gusto mag NURSE gihapon maksi kahibalo na sila na unsay future ahead nila currently . Whats funny is , ive known nurses na mag VOLUNTEER sa community to gain experience pang abroad nila . The IRONY is , they can still work , get paid maski gamay and still gain experience .

I can't blame the hospitals because most of these nurses are angling to go overseas. If the hospitals had to pay them a wage to train them up just to have them take their skills and use them abroad, then the hospitals would lose a lot of money. If these nurses want to be paid well then there should be an enforceable contract between themselves and the hospitals, wherein the hospital agrees to train them for a wage in exchange for guaranteed number of years of service after their training is complete. Otherwise, if I were in the hospital's shoes and some fresh graduate wants me to train them and pay them a huge salary only to have them fly overseas the moment they are trained up, I'd say no thanks and tell them to go to hell...

The problem is not the hospitals but the fact that fresh nursing grads have substandard training and require more training to have the minimum skills required to work overseas. Isn't this a problem of our substandard education system that is churning out unprepared nurses? If our nursing programs were top-notch, then these fresh grads wouldn't need an internship or low paying work experience to be marketable overseas. The real problem is that CHED has issued way too many licenses for nursing schools and there are way too many nursing schools producing bad nursing graduates who only barely pass the government exams.
