Rebel junior officer ‘90% sure’ of running for Senate in ‘07

NAVY Lieutenant Senior Grade Antonio Trillanes IV, a former spokesman of a band of rebel soldiers that staged a short-lived mutiny in 2003, is "90 percent" sure of running for the Senate in next year's election.

At the same time, Trillanes’ lawyer, Reynaldo Robles revealed that the junior officer was receiving offers of support from administration and opposition politicians.

"I'm 90 percent sure," Trillanes said on the side of his coup d'etat hearing in Makati City on Tuesday.

"There is a problem and we need change... We can't sit idly by," he said.

Trillanes said he would be running on a platform of "basic bureaucratic reforms, military reforms, and curbing corruption."

Asked how he would campaign while in detention, Trillanes said, "If there's a will, there's a way."

Could this be a strategy for him to escape the charges being filed against him?

I've noticed man gud, like the Estradas especially Jinggoy and Loi.. The government I guess is now having a hardtime with regards to the corruption charges against the Estradas because Jinggoy and Loi are now in the Senate.

Even the attempted arrest on Jinggoy for a libel charge was condemned.


If the Magdalo leader becomes a Senator, then for sure there would be a very big difference with regards to the way his case is handled.

IF Trillanes and the core leaders are really principled men as and a true warrior ,A BIG diference from a politician they should have shot themselves in the HEAD or stab them selves with a katana infront of their men than surrender to what they believe.

THat way a lot of people will know they are soldiers and not politicians...
