I love chillout! But i don't know a single artist from this genre...i just like listening to it especially when i'm at the beach. Y101 plays this on sunday nights. can you guys suggest a good compilation for me to buy? i want something soothing....pang.beach jud ba, hehe. thanks bmuch!

I don't know if my suggestion here suits your taste, but as the first beach bums of yore, long before Buyong became Tambuli, long before that asphalted circumfererntial stretch from eskena Marigondon to eskena Mactan Shrine was once dusty dirt road with only three houses....
Try getting a copy of:
1.) Manhattan Transfer's Brazil album,
2.) Torquatro Mariano - any album
3.) New York Voices - with the cut Open Invitation
4.) Noel Pointer (with Superwoman cut)
5.) Friends of Distinction (this one's rare... look for Great Day)
6.) 5th Dimension (try looking for Stoned Soul Picnic, Working on a Groovy Thing)
7. ) Any Astrud Gilberto, Flora Purim, Kevy Lettau is good beach music... look for Beach Samba by Astrud.

Joao Gilberto's tracks are nice. I like chill-out, but my preferences lean more on electronic/ambient chill-out-- not the latin line-up. A good example is Telepopmusik's "Just Breathe".

For me, the best music on the beach (headphone head-trip) would be soulful house. Not really THE chill-out we know, but just as much as people think that smooth jazz is "chill-out". The best compilation that represents that would have to be Hed Kandi Records' Beach House Compilations--- REALLY soulful stuff.
