Default No Sound after windows7 upgrade

    help mga istoryans!

I recently upgraded to win 7 ultimate from win xp. Since then i found out that i cant hear any sound from my speakers. By the way I'm using edifier e1100. When i checked in control panel>hardware and sound>sound what i can see on the playback devices list is Digital Audio (S/PDIF) - HIGH DEFINITION AUDIO DEVICE.

I didnt have this problem during my XP days. I verified that the speakers are working by plugging it into my PSP and IPOD. I'm pretty sure its a software problem specifically on the drivers. I did try the most steps as suggested online like DL the drivers (it didnt work) or doing update driver from device manger>sound video and game controllers ( says no updates found).

I ve been working on this one for 2 days now but still have not got my sound to work in win7.

Have you guys experienced this? Any suggestions that I might try? By the way with computers I only know the basics and not really that techie...

i was able to solve it... i found out that the drivers that i was DLing was not supported.
i searched the net for the same issue spent more than 5 hours a day and finally yesterday i tried searching for the same problem but with my motherboard as part of the search option and voila there i found a link to the correct driver to download...

    ASUS P5VD2-MX

ang akong next question is karon 512 ra ako memory i want to upgrade it...
then i opened up the case i found out that there are 2 slots 1 which is the current 512 and another empty slot.

    Now my friend gave me a kingston 1gb (kvr400x64c3a - PC3200 CL3 184) <----- mao naa sa label. (nosebleed)

I tried to insert it in vacant slot but it will not fit. My question is how would i know if my motherboard supports ddr1 or ddr2? How will I know and upto how much more memory can i upgrade to?

You can know more about your motherboard using Everest. Click Motherboard, then Chipset. All the infos will show up about your mobo including the Memory types it supported.

There is a free version but it may not have the feature I wrote above. I'm using the ultimate edition.
