guys, my sister is gonna buy a new computer and where on a tight budget. which is better between these two setup


SET A
procL: Intel 805 (2.66G) Dual Core 533mhz
Foxcon P4M800P7MA-RS V/S/L/ddr2
memory: pqi ddr2


SET B

proc: AMD Athlon 64 3200
mobo: ECS RX480AL ATI/PCI-E/S/L/Raid
memory: pqi ddr 400

i got a hard time deciding what is better. but im considering AMD 3200 cos Pentium D is really init and noisy.

Obviously your right bro, Pentium D based on the obsolete netburst architecture produces more heat, consumes more power (compare to AMD Athlon 64 3200) thus you need additional fan to cool it down so basically its noisy...

I will not lay my recommendations yet as you haven't gave the purpose of your planned PC, is it for Games? Rendering? or just plain office works (word-processing, spreadsheet)? I'm sure lots of our bros and sis here would like to know that first. =)

well for now its only for paper works and some internet browsing. but ako sis mag render naman cya puhon mga 2 years from now kai arki man. so by that time ako pc ako na i hatag niya.

go for amd then look for a mobo that has a pci-e and has an onboard 6100 on board video.. upgrade lang ka unya ug v-card in the near future.. and i suggest at least 1 gig ang ram.. den kingston nlang kay gamay ra deperensya
tried using the 6100 onboard nice man kaau... dagan mga games in low settings.. den ko mo share ka 16mb kay himooon niya 128mb.. dagan ghapon farcry.. den kung share kay 64 or 128 kay himoon niya 256mb imong shared video.. nice ghapon..
anyways suggestion ra ang 1 gig pwede ra gud 512..

pentium d 805 smokes the amd sinlge core s 939 3200 in multithreaded apps like photoshop cs2 and video editing.period. but not in single apps. like ms opis suites and games.

and my presshot 3.2e kicks the butt of ur 3200+ in multi thread also. and u kick mine in games.

and the question is... do u multitask?

what is ur budget for ram? is it for dd400 only?

f yes.. u go 4800+ ( kinda cheap now. within the price range of the e6300

if for ddr2
go E6300..

any of these 2 chip sure kick butts.

Well if the main use of the PC setup is just for officeworks, wordspread, internet browsing then I suggest you get the AMD path (as bro Gharid also suggest)... Get the AM2 platform instead of 754 and 939 because of future upgradability.

Regarding your question about ATI (X200), yes it is at par with GF6100 in some cases but I suggest you get the GF6100 motherboard because featurewise it is ahead over ATI (X200) motherboards and on benchies GF6100 wins most of the time.
