I'm playing my PS3 on my PC LCD monitor and speakers (altec lansing). Solving the video problem is easy enough - I just use an HDMI - DVI cable to connect to the DVI port of the monitor. Video problem solved.

That leaves the audio. What I did was use the AV cables (red/white/yellow wires that come with the PS3), using only the red and white terminals to connect to an adapter that looks like this:

....which is then connected to my subwoofers.

THE PROBLEM IS, if I insert the adapter all the way through, I only get audio from the left speaker. Strange enough, if I do NOT insert the adapter all the way through, INSERTING IT ONLY HALFWAY, sound then comes out of both speakers!

I don't know what is happening, and I won't settle for this joke of a 'solution'. Anybody who knows how to do this right? People who've been playing the PS3 on PC speakers?

Thanks.

EDIT: I have the same problem with this guy:
