    Default Going to Taipei, Taiwan

    Hello.

Has anybody here been to Taipei?
I'm going to Taipei this September, and I would like to seek advice from those who have been there. Are there any specific places we must visit? What are the tourist attractions there? Main modes of transportation, and general advice?

I've also heard that electronics in Taipei are abundant and cheap. Has anyone tried purchasing electronics there? How has it been regarding the warranty, bringing it back home, customs, etc?

Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

Taipei 101 though i didnt go there. all the expensive brands plus you can go up the observation deck for about 300NT.

Night Markets. try the stinky tofu though i don't like it hehehe

why don't you go around taiwan, it's just a small country hehe. speed rail from taipei to khaosiung around 2 hours only for about 1300NT if i'm not mistaken. there's also bus and train (around 5 hours for train).

i wasn't able to go to the east side but from pics i've seen it's very scenic!

Been there and here are the places or food stuffs you should check out

ChienTan/Shilin- one of the most popular night market
    HsiMenTing- shopping area
Taipei101, Warner Village and New York New York - upscale shopping place

    Well Known Food:

Braised Beef Noodle, Oyster omelette, Oyster Noodle (misua), Bubble Milk Tea, Spicy Chicken Fillet, Fruit Toppings (similar to halo halo but use strawberries, kiwis and others)

They're known for their street foods (xiao cher: which mean small eats), dont worry, they're clean and frequently checked for sanitation

    Hope this helps

    The places I've visited:

    1. Chiang Kai-Shek Memorial Hall
    2. Taipei 101
    3. Danshui Fisherman’s Wharf - adto ko ani winter pud to askan tugnawa. nabasa pa mi sa uwan murag mga piso
    4. Yangmingshan National Park - best during winter.
    5. National Palace Museum, Taipei
    6. Shilin Night Market
    7. Taipei Zoo

so many places I wanted to see but I ran out of time.

Palit na lang ug easycard with a prepaid credit. pwedi ni nimo magamit sa MRT ug bus. dili na ka mamrublema ug coins kada byahe.
I read somewhere sa net about "Taipei Pass" It comes in 4 categories: 1-day pass, 2-day pass, 3-day pass and 5-day pass. The pass is valid for unlimited Taipei Metro rides and Taipei City/County bus rides (with Taipei Pass logo on bus). Pero wala ko kasulay sa Taipei Pass karon pa ko, naa deay ni.

thanks for the replies! may i know what the best way of transportation in taipei is? by the looks of it, each stop of the mrt is far from each other. and we'll be travelling with children so we can't really walk far. should we take the bus?

zhēnzhū nǎichá (pearl milk tea) ug ang Ji Pa (deep fried chicken, street food) covered with a special powdery seasoning ni manong street vendor na miss jud nako. Sa Taiwan gud na nag-originate ang pearl milk tea. Must try.

the bus is ok kung kabalo na ka if unsa nga bus imo sakyan. Also, I think inoras ang mga buses. One-year of stay didto wala ko masweto sa byahe sa bus.
So far, mas ganahan ko magMRT pero lagyo-lagyo jud lakton.

Hinuon, I guess sa mga tourist destinations naa jud ni mga bus stops sa duol or sa tungod mismo.
    Pwedi pud taxi.

Bitaw it's better to let the situation cool down before going there, wala ta kahibalo about the sentiments of the people there. This is an overstatement, pero maayo na lang gyud nga managana.
