Medyo late reaction ni but this incident happened around 5months ago. I use Monster.com.sg for my job hunting needs. Although I use it primarily for job hunting in Singapore (amusingly without any luck) I still update it because some Philippine companies also use it for searching.
Anyway, back to the story. Five months ago someone with an Indian accent called me and told me that Monster is offering a "priority" application service that they will submit to major companies in Singapore like Barclays and IBM to name a few.
The cost?
The "agent" said he will generate a request with a work order number after which I will be forwarded to an automated phone system TO ENTER MY CREDIT CARD NUMBER.
"Wait wait wait! Can I think about this first? I'm in a bit of a hurry." (Not a lie. This came after the bastard said he won't take more than 5mins of my time). He said that it's only $9 for the job order to be approved and it's a cheap offer for a limited time.
Deciding to humor him I approved (para sibat after). When the automated phone system kicked in I hung up. Guess what? The guy called back in less than a minute! Wa kaabot ug 10 seconds, I sh*t you not!
Grabe mga, bai! Wala gyud ko lungi after I hung up! 5missed calls!
Anyway, SOP for monster.com. That service exists but it does not exist outside the US. If ever it did, it is a VOLUNTARY option. Monster does not force you to use their service if you don't want to.
