Default PCI Express 3.0: On Motherboards By This Time Next Yea

It's very nice too see they tweaked the efficiency sa pcie 3.0. Efficiency is really gold for me. I love it when theoretical bandwidth and actual throughput is very close as opposed to having wasted bits on error detection and correction.

As of right now though, i dont think pcie 3.0 will be a factor yet since no hardware or software can currently tap its potential. As mentioned in the article, only the highest end graphics card in multiple configuration can you slightly distinguish x16 from and a x8 lane. Probably in the next 3 years we can see graphics cards or ssds tapping this potential. this is very much like the situation of SATA 3.0 (6gb/s) right now

^^ i don't really think it's necessary yet. but as the article states, this will be another technology 'enabler' for future hardware. but as of right now, pcie 2.0 is more than adequate. The last pages of the article is the most practical for the pcie 3.0 though: having use it for p55 chipsets to correct it's disadvantage of having fewer lanes. with more bandwidth for pcie 3.0, they can somehow use that for multiple gpu setups even without 36 lanes an x58 board has.
IMO the technology that needs the most attention is SSDs. There has to be a way to manufacture it cheaply and increase it's capacity. In an interview with bit-tech (i think it was bit-tech anyway), Kingston promises a new manufacturing method to make SSDs more cost effective so this is exciting. this is partly the reason why wala pa ko nag SSD cuz imo opinion the capacity is just too low and the prices are just too obscenely high right now.

Almost half of the cards currently in the market can't even fully utilize pci-e 2.0 speeds how much more pci-e 3.0

exactly bro. only the 5970s, 5870s, and gtx480s, gtx295s, and 4870x2 are probably the only ones come close but only in multiple card configurations (sli/crossfirex). In 3 years i can see the use of pcie 3.0. right now, pcie 3.0 is good for something to aim for. In order for a technology to be obsolete you have to reach it's limits first. If it hasn't been reached yet then the technology hasn't been saturated yet.
don't get me wrong, I love pcie 3.0 but it should not be THE deciding factor for mobo buyers out there right now.
