Red face AMBOT - What a word

Kining AMBOT ba, unsa man jud iya pasabot ani? Libog kay daghan man gud iya gamit.
    Example:
    >Which means NO or I don’t know.
Unsaon mani? Tubagon lang ug AMBOT!
    Asa si ___? Tubag: AMBOT!
    >Trouble
Nag-solve ug calculus… mokalit lang ug shagit: “AMBOT! Wala ko kasabot”
    >Dedma.
    Nag-away sa uyab: “AMBOT nimo”

We can think of many more examples… kamo nay bahala
    Q:
What is the real meaning of AMBOT?
Is it formal to use that word?
How often do you use the word AMBOT?

For me… mura man gud ug wala tay buot kun mogamit ta ani.

First of all, its perfectly alright to say I don't know or "ambot". For there are hems of know-how in this consciousness that we actually don't know.

Obviously this "ambot" is used when we don't know or when a person doesn't want to think much finding the right explanation with logic and analysis on how things happens, countless questions, X's and many more how's.

Somewhat a supposition to a current lack of knowledge on a subject, the basic premise behind those things that are unknowable for us.

    pero ambot lng jd
wa ko kasabot mao ambot na lng
    aha aha

AMBOT simply means i don't know.
other derivatives can be i have no idea.

the proper way is to use it as a negative reply to a question, which emphasizes that you have no idea where, what, or how something is.

asa si juan? - ambot (where is juan? - i don't know)
pila ang kilo ani? - ambot (how much per kilo? - i have no idea)
kanus-a magsugod ang meeting? - ambot (when will the meeting start? - i don't know)

    no more no less.
it's the misuse of the word that mislead you.

kanang giingon nimo nga wa katubag sa calculus, pareha ra na sa nag-ingon siya i don't know the answer. nothing special about the use of ambot in that sentence.

kanang uyab nga ingon ka nag-away, gihimo na lang nang expression ang ambot, it means nga naglagot ang babaye kay didto kuot sa lain.

another informal application of the word ambot which evolved over the years is "ambot sa langaw".

again, ambot is a simple i don't know.

it was a shortened version of "amigo sa botbot" kay kung moingon ka ambot there a very high chance nga namotbotbot ka ug gusto lang manghunaw.
