    Default dual channel ram question

How much would you say is the advantage gained by dual channel DDR? over single channel? 25%?, 50%?, 100%?
would 2 x 512mb ram running at dual channel be faster than a single channel 2gb?
or would 2x512mb @ dual mode be 25% or more faster than a single 1gb or 2 x 512mb in single mode?

Its quite easy to say that yes using dual channel mode is much better than in single channel, but by how much?
and in what types of application will that work on?

    Anybody really know?

very little, in most real world apps, less than 10%

this is a comparison between various chipsets VIA and Intel particularly
    using Core 2 Duo
the VIA runs a single channel DDR2-533
while Intel runs a dual channel DDR2-800

    yet differences are very slight

theres a lot of info in the net, use search engine and look for memory module benchmark. I'm sure you will find the answer you are looking for. good luck searching bro.

    Simple.

dual channel = 128bit memory bandwidth
single channel = 64bit memory bandwidth

Its the same as 64 bit compared to 128 bit videocad.

As for me when it comes to memory intensive applications
like gaming I'd go for 128bit duhhhhh!!!!!

    QTF

but there are some applications/games that really show its benefits.. ingames usually the minumium FPS is inreased and the FPS dips are slightly reduced.. on memory intensive applications like rendering difference *could* be night and day, also it depends on the chipset.
