Thread: RGB or SRGB

    Default RGB or SRGB

I am torn between this color spaces. Which is which?
Does it make any big impact to our images?

I have been shooting on RGB ever since tungod kay almost tanan books akong mabasa kay they prefer RGB. But just recently, i think na develop na akong mata sa photography i can see something that i never noticed before my photos seems like they are over popping the colors when posted on web while sa akong monitor it looks good.

Karon SRGB nasab akong gamit after i found out mas natural ang result sa akong monitor and 80 percent matched when posted sa web (my monitor is profiled to SRGB, but not calibrated).

What is your opinion guys, SRGB or RGB? Share your experience .

    sir emzs,
SRGB is the colorspace used by the web, likely because of compression sir... but if your intention is for print then stay away from SRGB... pero sir pangutana lang pud sa mga maayong laki dire kay tingali diay ug sayop ko sir
    salamat,

Ako personal experience and based sad sa ako nabasahan, AdobeRGB can store more color information than sRGB so nice siya from shooting to post processing as well as for printing. I used AdobeRGB for both shooting (camera setting) and post processing (photoshop setting). And when saving for web, in photoshop, there is a checkbox CONVERT to sRGB, be sure to check that para dili "HILAW" ang imo colors. This is probably due to web browser's color management. So far, this workflow works for me, giving me vivid color results. And by the way, im a RAW shooter. Im not sure though if it works for others.

    sir emzs,

AdobeRGB contains more data and has a wider color gamut but RAW is something else... the first thing that you should do before the first click of your DSLR is to set the color space unto AdobeRGB (this is a must and the most common blunder each and every new DSLR user neglects).

when in photoshop do also change your color profile unto AdobeRGB

I hope this could help you sir... just keep shooting and goodluck sir.

As I've learned from attending a Color Management workshop sponsored by Canon and I-Mag. The recommended color space to use is AdobeRGB since it has the widest color gamut.
Color Management though is a very complex matter since different mediums uses different color spaces. You have to calibrate all equipments you use to get your desired output. If for example you print pictures, you have to calibrate your camera, monitor up to the printer to get the desired results. basta kumplikado.

It would not matter to me cause I shoot in RAW. FYI - my camera is set to AdobeRGB

Mag-huna2x lang ko sa color space kung what kind of media output I do (web, print or canvas).
