Thread: Road Rules

    Default Road Rules

now that i have been driving on the right side of the road again, i can't help but get frustrated at times. the Land Transportation Office has got to start getting serious with granting licenses and registrations to anyone who wants to run registered tyres on public roads. honestly, it is very rare that we find drivers who are aware of road rules and courtesy.

    get this:

    1. unreasonable honking of horn
    2. taking up two lanes
    3. switching lanes and or turning without indicating
    4. sluggish driving on the 'fast' lane (leftmost lane on multi-lane)
    5. overtaking over solid centre lines
    6. incoming traffic spilling over solid/broken centre lines
    7. conducting U-Turns over solid centre lines
    8. thick black exhaust emissions
    9. no concept of 'right-of-way'
    10. no consideration to pedestrians crossing, or about to cross, on pedestrian lanes
    11. high-beam lights in close proximity with incoming traffic

since, for the very mean time, the licensing agency of the government has not yet put their best foot forward in making sure these road rules are taught and practised by license applicants, we, licensed drivers, need to take the initiative. the web is one of our biggest resource and websites relating to road rules won't be too hard to find.

i hope this thread would start an awareness campaign, even just within iSTORYA.NET to start with, to make our roads a safer and pleasurable place to drive on.

driving is not just 'driving' as what a lot might think it would be.

Welcome back to the Philippines, my friend. Drivers here need serious seminars. Especially jeepney drivers and taxi drivers who just cut your way off for those waiting passengers. The ones I hate the most are drivers at night who keep their high beams on. How I want to shine those bright lights on their inconsiderate faces.

    my driving pet peeves:

    1. jeepney drivers who just cut through the lanes without even looking at the other lane.
    2. jeepneys that stop for more than 10 seconds at a stop
    3. drivers who honk their horn even if they're 50 meters away just so you won't take their lane
    4. habal-habal drivers who would rather risk their limbs than use their brakes
    5. slow drivers on the fast lane
    6. motorcycle drivers who overtake on a solid center lane assuming that you would be scared to hit them (i play chicken with these bastards)

    add lang ko:
    -jaywalkers
-drivers who block the intersection (junction box), di lang gyud mu-hatag lugar...
-jeepney drivers who stop in the middle of the road to drop off/pick up passengers...
-traffic enforcers who turn a blind eye amidst the blatant traffic violations happening around them...

    to add:

cops and traffic enforcers not minding the number of smoke belchers going past their way.

The most dangerous moving things in the roads are the two wheel motorcyles mostly of the light 100cc category.

Watch out for this king of the road wanna be especially their special infamous reckless sudden "quicky snake maneuver turn", this is the most dangerous.

i personally have more than a dozen close call encounter with this light motorcyle's quicky snake turn.

    9. no concept of 'right-of-way' - wala ni sa driving school sa mga jeepney driver. basta makahibaw mo drive ok na.
    10. no consideration to pedestrians crossing, or about to cross, on pedestrian lanes - sometimes we can blame sa mga driver kay uban mga pedestrian mo lakaw morag naa sa sala.

    1. it's not the sound of the horn. it's how and when you use it. it's simple courtesy.

    5. the rules regarding solid centre lines are pretty standard. the rules are there but not being followed.

    9. most, if not all, license applicants don't really go thru any driving test with a proper testing syllabus.

    10. vehicles have to keep well clear when a person is on one end of the pedestrian lane.

    .. let me add:

.. beating the red light - most drivers do this and seldom can't outrun the red light, hence will cause so much traffic.

.. jeepney drivers waiting too much for passengers - you can see this along Gaisano Metro, none moving to get the most passengers

    5. the rules regarding solid centre lines are pretty standard. the rules are there but not being followed. - i know the rules but kahibaw ba ang mga drivers sa ana na rule?

    9. most, if not all, license applicants don't really go thru any driving test with a proper testing syllabus. - lto dosnt not issue driving test if u dont ask.

    10. vehicles have to keep well clear when a person is on one end of the pedestrian lane. - its hard to determine if that person mo labang ba or dili. wat if nagtabay ra. we dont know.. and mostly mga people dili mo labang sa pedestrian lane.
