Unhappy HELP! My external 160gb IDE HDD not detected

Can somebody here help me pls? Or help diagnose what's wrong with my bloody 160gb IDE HDD?

    Here's the story:
I have two IDE HDD's, one is a 200gb while the other one is a 160gb. I only have one external 3.5" enclosure (Thermaltake brand) which enclosed the 200gb, used as a back-up for my files. I got both HDD's here in istorya from two different sources. The 200gb IDE i've been using for quite a while now and it's working very well. While the 160gb IDE i've never tried to use ever since i bought it, since i plan to use it on my PS2 fat console, and i've haven't bought me a network adaptor for it yet, so i set it aside unused.

    Here's the problem:
Just tonight, i switched over my 200gb IDE from its external enclosure with my 160gb IDE (i only have one enclosure). I want to test my 160gb IDE and format it to the required FAT32, in preparation for use for my PS2 fat console. I switched it over and connected all the cables then plugged it into my notebook. When i turned it on, i expected to see this little icon on my taskbar tray or a message pop-up that would inform me of a new drive being detected, but i didn't. I opened My Computer but i don't see the new drive there too. I haven't completely closed the external HDD enclosure, and i can hear the HDD hummng and feel it spinning. But my notebook doesn't detect it, why??

I turned it off and popped the 200gb IDE back into the enclosure and test see if my enclosure is faulty (or if i had damaged any of its cables or whatnots, when i made the switch then). But when i turned it on, my 200gb IDE works absolutely fine! My notebook detects it like it should, gives me this little icon on the taskbar tray and the pop-up message that a new drives detected / connected.. Then i tried it again with the 160gb IDE, and it's back to the same problem. It's not detected..

I did this over and over, for about two hours. But still, my 160gb IDE is not being detected. I'm getting really pissed...

What seems to be the problem with my 160gb IDE? Is this fixable?
    Can anyone help me?

    Thanks to all in advance..

    Cheers!

I have absolutely no idea. That's what i'm trying to find out what inside of this (file system, files, etc.), when i placed it in the enclosure of my 200gb IDE and plugged it into my notebook. As my purpose then was to erase everything in it (if this has any file in it) and reformat it to FAT32, so i can use this with my PS2 fat console.

No sir. Just the regular hum / buzz of a HDD. It makes the same sound as that of my 200gb IDE, my 500gb SATA, as well as my notebook HDD and my HDD media player.

Sir.. My notebook doesn't even detect the 160gb IDE the first time i plugged it in. It dosn't detect the new hardware or new disc that i plugged thru the usb with this 160gb IDE? How is this supposed to work, when my notebook can't even detect the new hardware?

But still, i did tried your suggestion. And still didn't work. Still no new hardware / drive / disc detected.

Make sure that the Master/Slave setting on the hard-drive matches the settings in the BIOS.

I don't understand what you're trying to point out. Too technical for my feeble brain to handle.
Where do i find the Jumper? What's a BIOS? Where do i find the Master and Slave?

This is getting too frustrating... I don't know what to do, i can't even understand the terms and names, all too technical for me.

I do appreciate your help sir, thanks a bunch. But i think it's time for me to seek professional help, someone who can really take a look at this IDE HDD personally and fix it.

Anyone here know how much would it cost me to have this repaired?

I don't think the master/slave config matters at this point. Its happening inside the windows environment. @ ts, naay status indicator imo enclosure nga ga-read ang hdd?
