MANILA, Philippines - The weather on Wednesday afternoon seemed to be in tune with the atmosphere inside Congress as both Houses proclaim the 2 winning bets to the highest offices in the country.
Scattered rainshowers--coupled with thunderclaps--were experienced in some areas in Metro Manila while the joint session of the Senate and House of Representatives proclaimed Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III and Jejomar Binay as the new president and vice president of the Philippines.
The thunderclaps somehow served as special sound effects to the speeches delivered by parliament leaders during the proclamation.
Hail storm
While applause and cheers reverberated inside Congress to greet the president- and vice president-elect, a hail storm was experienced in Zapote, Las Piñas City.
Las Piñas resident Eva Manuel Carreon told abs-cbnNEWS.com that the hail storm occurred around 2:40 p.m. and lasted for about 5 to 10 minutes only.
“Maliliit lang ng konti sa mothballs. Maingay ang patak parang may bumabato sa bahay namin kaya tiningnan naming sa labas,” Carreon said.
The weather bureau's daily report stated on Wednesday that Mindanao would experience mostly cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms. Luzon and Visayas will mostly experience rainshowers and thunderstorms in the afternoon or evening.
