Some buildings purposely numbered the 13th floor as the 14th to avoid distressing people who has TRISKAIDEKAPHOBIA. The fear of number 13. A lot of people considered 13 as an unlucky number due to many accidents involving the number. In Formula 1, for instance, the no. 13 was permanently removed after two drivers were killed in crashes. There were also a lot of tragedies recorded on Friday the 13th. The death of the Knights Templar being one which occurred on Friday, 13th of October. 13 being a bad number can also be traced even during Jesus' time. Judas, the disciple who betrayed Jesus was the 13th to sit at the table of the Last Supper.

My office building has 13th floor. I am on 16th. 17th is the rooftop engineers go there for heating/ventilation works, whatever. But that's interesting to note that there is not a 13th floor on some buildings. Never thought of it.
