    Stay away.

These have been around for many years. Naa pa diay na ilad ani.

The bonds ostensibly were brought into the Philippines during World War II to aid the resistance effort. Unfortunately, the notes never reached their destination as the bomber carrying them crashed in the jungles of Mindanao. Tribesmen found the wreckage half a century later. Or so the story goes.

Unfortunately, the bonds were found to have been forgeries (and crude ones at that) printed and circulated by unsrupulous people in Mindanao.

Ten years ago the United States Secret Service got wind of this scam and sent agents here to investigate. Several people were arrested.

This whole thing smacks of another Yamashita Treasure yarn, put out there to scam the many Filipinos who want to get rich quick. Around 2000 or 2001 a family friend told me he had bought some of these notes (which he believed to be genuine) and needed my help transporting them because he didn't feel flying them from Mindanao to Cebu onboard a commercial airliner would be safe. I told him if it sounded too good to be true, then it probably was. I wanted no part in it because I knew it was a scam.

    Here's the story:
