Help with Broken Laptop Monitor

Hello Istoryans!

I have this HP Presario B1200 laptop. Actually, its my bro's. He said it fell from the bed.
I attached pictures of the damage.



As you can see, the monitor has visible cracks and the laptop is now useless. It can still boot to Windows (login sound can still be heard) and stay up and running unless I manually shut it down. Im guessing the only thing broken is the LCD monitor, but Im not really sure.

I have a few questions.
1. Can this laptop still be saved?
2. Which shop would you recommend I approach? (expertise, price, after-service support, customer feedback)
3. How much would it cost me? (Im hoping a tech can throw in an estimate)

it can be save... that if kung wala na damage ang mother board or processor... the problem is the LCD., mura kag kapalit ug bag-o ana brad... mahal na ang lcd dili pa jud ka kapalit... basta basta anah...ordiron panah sa supplier.... better buy a new 1 may warranty pa 1 year... XD

bitaw brad ang LCD 1/2 na sa presyo sa bag.o... Or you can try to contact technical support and diskarte about replacing the LCD>

If thats the case! broken laptop LCD means you have to let it go doh...sakto sila mahal kaayo pailis sa LCD lang better buy bnew mao jud ampingan kay mahal kaayo ang computers.

Ma save pa jud na siya. Try PM "daryo" istorya user sad na siya kay siya ra sad akong nakit-an diri nga mo replace ug LCD. Pero advice nako nimo, remove all usable parts like hdd, CD/DVD-ROM, memory, motherboard & pr0cessor aron ibaligya at least dili jud masayang ang ubang parts nga functional pa.

suggest ko lang weigh in your options coz the cost of lcd is almost half of the brand new na system
ill give you a figure from 9k to 15k depending on the size of your screen...
yes PM daryo but expect mao na ang price somewhere near that range

better use na lang an external monitor if you really want to use the laptop.... hehehe

Better use external monitor. Mao sad na akong gibuhat sa akong HP laptop nga daghan na kaayo ug white streaks sa display. e-off lang ang laptop display para dili bati lantawon nga naka dual display nya guba ang screen sa laptop

yep; palit na lang ug 22" na lcd monitor kung gusto ka masave pa ang lappy.

kung naa ka plan to dispose ana... i'll get that for 5k (naa ko plan i-mod for Davao Cyber Expo 2010 using that parts)

i have a question. how do i set it so that the LCD monitor connected to the laptop becomes the default display on startup. remember i cannot navigate around windows because the laptop's display is broken so i cant set it inside windows.

check on keyboard meron icon dyan not sure

"FN" (function key) + F7/F8 yung meron icon na parang 2 monitors.
