PCF Text Scam

Hi, Istoryans

If you've been getting notifications from a certain PCF group, ignore them. Philippine Charity Foundation is a scam. Here's the template message I got (from different numbers and from different attorneys):

Notice: To Valued Sim Card Holder: Ur sim # have [sic] won 950,000. From: PCF, BSP Blg Manila. Please call me now. I'm ATTY. LEO B. DELOS SANTOS. DTI P-#0572s2010.

It seems the scam has been on-going since 2007. Once you call up the person, he/she will ask for your name, birthday, address... and cell phone load worth thousands! I thought I'd post this alert here to warn our trusting bros and sis.

Remember: If you haven't joined any contest or raffle draw at all, there's no way you would win something. It's extremely fishy for a foundation to dole out money when foundations usually solicit for donations.

No need to call or text back, guys. I suggest you ignore such messages AND tell your friends. It's amazing how well publicized some scams are and yet, naa jud gihapoy magpailad.
