Hi mga istoryans.

Im posting this thread since i haven't seen any thread so far about Sony Vaio Defective Fans

I have been fixing these issues since last year and i have opened up around 4 dozens of sony vaios for the past year. Majority have been cebu, mandaue, lapu2x customers and have been so far satisfied with my service. The rest of my customers are from manila, bohol, leyte and negros.

This is really a known issue of Sony Vaio CS Models. The fans have very minimal lubrication coming from factory causing it to get stuck and will cause system overheating and will eventually have the computer turn off.

The bottom of the system will get very hot... pwde ka mka luto itlog... hehehehe...

Sometimes the fan spins but it is very noisy - clicking sound - this is because the fan is shot - it wobbles inside the assembly causing the fan to bump on the frame of the fan assembly. In the long run it would still be stuck and will cause system shutdown. fix ko ani butangan spacer pra mawala ang wobble sa fan.

I will show you some videos from youtube and also my work log pics on how to fix the fan.

I really hope this would help to most of the VAIO CS users.

If you are hesitant to open your VAIO CS just contact me. It could be fixed in less than an hour only and I could even work on the system at a mall like in SM foodcourt as long as I have a table and chair to work upon the system.

this video is for replacing the fan (but im not going to replace the fan coz lisod man gyud ni pangitaon ang fan dri cebu, even in manila, so what im doing is a workaround to at least fix it and so the system will be usable again)

start of teardown






i always use masking tape pra ma tape ang screws sa chassis ky bacin malibog nya ta which screw would go into what hole once ibalik na nato ang system after the fix... mao ni ako nabantayan sa ubang technician d na kamao asa ang screws ibalik... the screws for the vaio are different in sizes and lengths.

fan is powered by magnetic coils for the fan to spin... the fan has magnetic sides




fixing it!
2-3 drops of oil sa center hole (kanang naay gold)
make sure gamay lang na oil ibutang or else mo spill na cya...


do the reverse of all of the steps and reassemble back the system

yup that was the problem of sony vaio cs series.. my 3 friends bought that cs- series same problem noise from the fan and sometimes cause over heat and rebooting the system.. it a warranty but we need to sent it to the sony service center in US..

I have also this unit .. but i had not yet encounter the problem... sony service center admitted that there was a problem in cs series..

murag na miss out jud ni sa sony ang manufacturer sa ila mga fans kuwang lubrication mao na mo stuck up cya... d na motoyok... but gamay ra na oil ok na daun...

the last time nag suroy ko sa ayala that vaio cs laptop is still selling @ Php 73,000.

i like the way this guy tears down the laptop
he uses masking tape instead of placing the screws on a table

performance wise sir wala jud na problema ang specs sa vaio mo... all you need is to have the fan at least repaired or if d na jud mada ayo pede ra man mo palitan outside PH replacement na fan ang imo vaio...
