Intranet Website Setup Using XAMPP - Kinsa Kabalo?, im planning to use this as sandbox for developing website... does it need special router or naa lay i config sa router para i direct ang connection?

default http port is port 80. when this port is already in use you can use another port.

if your using a router use the port forward option in your router configuration. change your modem router configuration to use port forward if your using pldt or globe modem directly attached to your pc.

how about dns?, i was thinking of using virtual name, can it be setup on the router?, ive tried port and ip forwarding but not at this type...

with-in your network you can configure your own domain name.

if your talking about dns server you must have a Static IP address. you can contact your ISP for this.

if you want to have a domain name point to your pc you can use DynDNS.com: Free DNS Hosting, E-mail Delivery, and VPS Hosting or No-IP - Dynamic DNS, Static DNS for Your Dynamic IP you only get free subdomain. you also want to buy a domain name then point to your ip if you want to host your own website.

well i just want to use a virtual name to access my sandbox site from my laptop... so i can just work the site even if somebody is using the pc.... i know to make virtual name of XAMPP but i haven't tried on a intranet.....

ok. you need to edit the host file to resolve your virtual name since you did not mention what os you use, you can search for the location of the host file. in windows its in c:windows/system32/drivers/etc/

and yeah dont forget to open some ports from your firewall.

ok na part, i just configured my firewall, i also made some fun stuff, i routed all facebook.com to my sandbox site, and boy my wife is shock to see my face in facebook frontpage....
