I'm currently looking for a new UPS and would like to hear your opinions and experiences regarding the different brands.
I'd prefer it not to be APC brand because APC's are so expensive.

i've been using PCSTAR UPS 500 for 3 months..works great so far.
you can try Giant UPS
before you buy an UPS bro, you should check your power requirements. what are the components that you what your UPS to support when power interruption occurs.
PC Star na 600W w/ built-in AVR ako gamit. ang gi support aning UPS is my 17" CRT monitor & a 350W ATX power supply.
In UPS selection, price should not be the major guage. You should consider how the UPS perform once there is a power outage. Is your cheap UPS really delivering an almost AC supply to your load? This is very critical considering that most of the loads require AC supply. Any DC component in the supply provided by the UPS to these loads may cause damage in the long run.
Second is the filtering capability of the UPS to trap surges and spikes. Better choose a UPS with a regulator on its front-end.
Third is the switch over characteristics. This is how the UPS behave at the time the main supply becomes unavailable. Will there be noticeable fluctiation in the load supply during the switch over?
Fourth. Consider the warranty and aftersales support.
Go for Apc, warranty is 2 years. If problem occurs naay replacement.
