Some of you might have noticed my thread selling digital cameras. I have been an istoryan since last year and for the first time ever, somebody tried to scam me. Lucky kaayo ko na naa jud ako uyab kuyog jud nako kung mag deliver ko ug cameras.
Last week, a girl texted me and informed me of her interest to buy a camera. The items she almost scammed from me was worth Php 42,000. Here's her modus:
1.) She pretends to be pregnant
2.) She will meet you and will always ask if kinsa imo kuyog for meet-ups.
3.) She will then make you believe she's in a hurry and in some instances, she rides a taxicab and will say she has to leave right away.
4.) She will hand you a sealed envelope.. with masking tapes all around it as if it's money inside it. But the truth is, they're all cut colored papers inside.
In my case, mao ni ang nahitabo:
We met at a bbq place across I Love Steak (near century plaza and zecrets). Earlier that day, mga 1:30 PM, I asked my bf to deliver the cam coz I was at work and she said she needs it. She said her mom works at STC and her mom will pay the rest of the amount there. She already handed me a downpayment pero gamay ra kaayo.. but at least naa'y downpayment so I was not doubtful about the whole transaction.
So my bf drove all the way to STC from Talisay. Pag-abot sa STC, the girl was inside the campus and was on her way out (kunohay). She didn't have the money with her coz iya mom naa daw sa sulod. My bf gave the initiative of asking the guard to let him in but ms. scammer won't give her mother's name. (strange!) So ggod thing, klase pa ako bf and he has to leave na.. he told ms. scammer to just meet me after work at 5pm. She hesistantly agreed.. wa niya mailad akong bf! haha
At 5pm, nagkita mi didto sa bbq place na.. my bf was with me coz his class ends at 4PM so dungan2x lang mi ug out. I was shocked when she told me na dili lang daw nako panaugon or paubanon akong bf inig na-og sa car coz hr mom is strict! (
so what? unsaon diay ka sa akong uyab?!!! buntis naman gani ka!) But I gave her request coz customer biya... she said her mom was the one sitting there in a pink blouse.
My bf was sitting inside the car lang but he can see us from there. Now, this girl was trembling and klaro kaayo na nakuyawan but I was wondering wa man siyay kuyog! When she explained, she said na ilaha daw na ang tindahan na GAYLORD bitaw sa eskina sa cabanas na green ug atop? just a few steps away from where we stayed. Hadlok daw cya na didto mi coz her mom was in rage.. suko daw kay dugay blah, blah... sala ba diay namo na wa mi kasud sa STC..
So, I gave her my apologies. I gave her a little demo on how to use the cam and then tested one shot. After which, gihipos na nako ang item.. she said she'll approach her mom to get the money. She went somewhere near the store but di man kaayo klaro from my view coz there was an office glass na nag-ali sa store.
She came back with a sealed brown envelope. Ingon dayon cya na her mom wants to see the camera. I offered to come with her coz wa pa ra ba siya nibayad! Nag dala2x lang cya sa envelope. But she said "ayaw lang adto sis kay gisapot jud cya, maowaw man gud ko nimo" (CHAR!). SHe mght have seen the questioning look on my face mao to ni-offer cya na iphon sa daw ang moni inside OUR car.. I said OK.. that's a better deal. She asked my permission to go to her mom AGAIN para iya daw ingnon na iphon lang sa ang moni.. weird.
From there, wa na siya nibalik.. as in! we waited for 45 minutes but she never came back. I calle dher number, dili na macontact. Wa pa jud ko na-convince about the whole thing.. ako giduol ang tindahan na iya gi-point as theirs. I approached the woman in pink and guess what?? di niya kaila ang buntis! The woman in pink also said na iyaha ang store and wala siya anak nga buntis.. the person she pointed as her mother was completely a stranger!
I was really scared after that.. I looked around to see if somebody is watching us. I felt eyes were on us.. so we decided to just leave. We still have the camera and I still have her downpayment.. in fairness, ni-capital jud siya para mangilad.. her downpayment is not fake coz I was able to deposit it in my bank account.
