    Angry Iphone + Smart Gold plan holders. BE CAREFUL!


    So i just got my Smart phone bill and noticed a 3,263.31 charge on DATA CHARGES. So here's the thing...My hubby arrived Dec.27 so I got to use his Iphone. Its not even the latest. Its just 16g 2g Iphone. I inserted my sim and tried connecting to the Internet through Smart settings. But I wasn't able to connect coz apparently my provider's settings are not installed. So I called up customer service and asked where and how can I get their setting. The agent said, Smart dont got settings for Iphones. So I guess I would just have to deal with free WiFi in order to connect.

    I called up customer service today and here's what they said. For some reasons my sim would connect to the Internet after I surf using Wifi. And I was shocked to hear that! Why didn't the agent told me that when I first asked for the settings?! Why would I be effin billed for something I didn't even used?! The agent was even saying that maybe my Iphone is defected. Wth? They can't even give me a valid excuse.

    So anyways I'm just venting. I will go to NTC soon and report this. Hopefully the other Smart postpaid subscribers on Iphone would learn from this.

    sis i also heard a lot of cases like these na..ambot ngano kaha na..but anyway, hope you get credited back for those charges that you did not even use...go go go

    Biktima sad ko ani. I hate it 'coz I didn't even use EDGE and just use wifi (w/c is suppose to be free at home).

    turn off 3G and clear your APN/VPN of all settings.

    I tried beforehand to surf with safari and it didn't connect jud. It says 'check with your network provider' (something like that). So meaning Smart setting isn't on the phone. How were they able to charge me automatically when i wasn't able to connect manually diba?

    sus same ni sa akong experience. gkawat akong load. pgtawag nako gingnan ko nga nigamit daw ko GPRS. akoa gingnan nga iphone akong phone. ngnet ko thru wifi. and sa akong nhbawan, ang 2g iphone way GPRS and 3G settings. Then they insisted jud kay mao daw nigawas sa ilang computer. akoa gpusdakan!

    GPRS/EDGE IS 2G. that's why it was called iphone 2G in the first place.

    for clarification purposes, bisag dli 3G capable imong phone, maka connect gihapon na sya sa mobile internet. ang difference lang sa 2G and 3G, is of course, 3G is faster (being 3rd generation). GPRS/EGDE, which is 2G, is around dial-up to 384kbps speed, while 3G reaches 2mbps. in other words, dili ninyo mahimong rason nga porke dli 3G capable inyong phone, dili namo macharge-an sa mobile internet.

    hala... i have the same dilemma, just got my company blackberry globe phone bill i am being charge of gprs for 3.5k from jan. 1 to 26 imagine kadako sa akoa bill... considering if mag surf ko to check lang kad**** some sites pero di man guro maabot ug 3.5k nya dili taga adlaw mag surf.... unsaon nalnag ni...
