if you are familiar with your iris... it explains best about aperture.

if you noticed, kung hayag kaayo mu gamay imo pupil... para mobalance ang light..
and if ngitngit, modako to let more light in...

pareho sa cam. if mogamit ka ug taas nga number like f/6.0 medyo ngit ngit imo pic. but if mogamit ka ug gamay nga number like f/3.5 para sa kitlens... hayag imo pic. so sa cam, the higher the number sa imo aperture the darker the output can become, if lower f number, the lighter the output can become..

for shutter, like sa pilok sa mata. it will determine unsa kapaspas mopilok imo cam. kung taas kag shutter speed paspas cya mopilok, which means lesser ligth will be allowed pud, which cud also give a darker output. and if ubos ka ug shutter speed hinay pud mopilok. which can give brighter output.

so to compensate eveything, shutter and apperture is the opposite of each other but needs to compliment each other. so if mogamit ka higher shutter speed you may need to use a lower f number and the vice versa. unless you wanted to specify on some lighting.

by the way, this is in manual shooting.

    hope this helps

the function of shutter speed and aperture is the same. it is to control the amount of light the will get in thru the lens then onto the sensor.

faster SS/higher(f) value = lesser light
    slower SS/lower (f) value = more light

ISO naman is another thing. it controls how sensitive the sensor is. the lesser the ISO value the less sensitive the sensor is to light.

during bright situations, wala au ka problema. you just have to decide whether gusto ka ug sharp foreground and blurred background then set to an aperture (f) of about 3.5-8.0. if you want that both foreground and background are sharp then set (f) to around 11 to as high as 22. then adjust the shutter speed accordingly. ISO doesn't matter much here. just set it to 200. kani nga setting is for normal shooting lang. not about creative photography.

during lowlight, anhi na ka musugod ug timpla sa 3 (ISO, aperture, and shutter speed). anhi nasad magsugod ug labad imong ulo. hehehe... but you could always use the flash diba? unless you want to get creative nasad.

anyway, i'm sure you'll get the hang of it in no time at all. don't fret about not getting it right the 1st time. for the meantime... enjoy fotography. apil sa sinulog. surely ul have a great time pressing that shutter button. hehehe around 3000 shots perhaps?

Congratulations on your new cam TS. Don't forget to read the user's manual, it will make your life much easier =)

Tip ako mahatag is practice shooting using Aperture priority mode. From your shots learn what shutter speed the cam generates with respect to the set aperture.

Wow! nice explanations mga boss. I have been using my cam for a mnth but then mag libog pa jud ko kung ngano blurry kau or am I using the right program for a certain shot or output i wanted to see. good job and congrats T.S sa imong new cam.

    Shutter speed:
How fast your Sensor Flips. (open your cam and u can see the sensor there and that one will flip every time you press the shutter). Your sensor is the one that will get the image that the lens sees.

    so....
Fast shutter speed = less light iyang ma kuha from the image = images tend to be dark (compared from its natural) and Slow shutter speed is the exact opposite.

Aperture: Its the Opening sa imong Lens Blade. since d nimo ma open imong lens search nalang sa internet ug picture... then ang kanang blades mao na ang mo set sa imong DOF + it will also affect sa imong lightness and darkness sa imong image.

    so...
kung dako ang opening sa imong Blades(low f value) = more light nga mu sulod = hayag na picture
+ higher DOF (blurry2 ang background)
then kung small ang opening sa blades = opposite sad ang effect...

Try shooting the same subject with different values sa shutter speed and aperture and see the difference.... best is to try the extreme values of both settings. para makita jd nimo ang effect then gradually change values...

hope this helps and i hope sakto ni akong gipang yaw2... hahahaha good luck and keep on shooting. read again the manual... your manual is your best friend(for now)... hahahaha

Follow the link below. It will teach you about the basics of Photography which is actually all about light and how to control it... start here. It is dicussed very carefully for beginners. Understand the interrelation between the components of the exposure triangle; Aperture (lens opening), ISO (light sensitivity of the CCD/CMOS), & Shutter Speed (the amount of time the shutter is open).

    Digital Photography Tips and Tutorials

Read them carefully then practice them in your camera and you will be surprised at how fast you will learn. Like in any learning, understanding the fundamentals is the key to masteriung the technique...

    Hope this helps...
