It does sound good for AMD since they can use ATI's technology on producing integrated GPUs and chipsets to compete with Intel... but for that to work, they need to win the major contracts like DELL, HP from Intel.

The merger of ATI and AMD does not mean that AMD will now use only ATI chipsets.. AMD will still allow nVidia to make chipsets for them

Intel will merge with nVidia? I really do not think so considering Intel..

Intel already has their own graphics dept that is profitable.
Intel will have no high end GPU support until they accept the SLI.. or is it the other way around?

Intel has the highest market share on GPU's they dont really need nvidia or ati for any of those, besides intel is making more profits on the processor and server market.
