Sometimes, lack of knowledge leads us to make false judgments. The quarrel about whether one calls the holidays Christmas and Xmas is one. For Christians it is good and salutary that they stick to the celebrations to remember the Nativity of Jesus Christ in Bethlehem.
After all this is at the center of their religion — God became man to save man, to make up for his transgressions because of original sin.
But there are millions of those who do not believe this Christian story. To them Xmas is not just an abbreviation for Christmas but a more encompassing term to use for celebration whatever your beliefs are. Because it is more encompassing and secular, if sometimes a tad too materialistic, it leads to the all important virtue of tolerance, a virtue most needed in these times of conflict. But that is still another discussion.
