Default Real world experience with Smart Bro Share It wireless broadband

I'd like to share my horrible experience with SmartBro Share It so far. I made these 2 speed tests from 2 independent sites:

    Test # 1:

    Test # 2:

They advertised their Share-It service at up to 2mbps yet the actual speed stays at only around 100kbps! Subscribers are only getting 5% of what they are paying for with SmartBro Share it.

If Smart will only give us 5% of the advertised speed, then maybe we should be paying 5% of the P999 monthly bill also, or around P 50 per month.

*NOTE* that I made these tests in an area with 3.5G coverage, meaning the signal that I was getting is HSDPA, or High Speed Downlink Packet Access where the theoretical speed between my Share It Router and the cell site is 7.2MBPS.

I am also within direct line of sight to the cell site and just about 300 meters away from it.

*NOTE 2* during the first 3 days that I was subscribed to SmartBro Share-It, my speed was always around 1.5mbps to 1.7mbps. But it only lasted 3 days and from that point onwards all I got was a meager 0.1mbps.

    hello
actually, when they say UP TO 2 mbps.. it's talking about the max speed...
the share it technology actually uses HSDPA which is the same technology as
internet on your cell phones.. so mag agad na siya ug signal.
all I can say is, in some areas your speed and latency will be better than other areas.
even if you say that the Smart reception in your area is Okay, you still can't guarantee stable internet service because your voiceline is different from your dataline.

the wireless internet technology is just not yet that developed, and I can
confidently say that Smartbro is just so much more better than the competing wireless provider which is Globe. I think many people feel so too

I've been using Smartbro (the canopy antena) for more than 2 years now and I've been nothing but satisfied, really.
to be perfectly honest, it's just the most hassle-free and has the least amount of downtime comparing to all other providers.

I'm no Smart model or anything but I will not pay 1K/month for almost 3 years for service that I am not satisfied with given that there are many options out there.

so if you care the share it router with the Smartbro Canopy, the canopy will be better in terms of stability. but if you choose that, you can't just bring it anywhere and you also have to buy your own wireless router. so you have to choose really.

when choosing an ISP, you have to think about what you want to use the service for,
if you want to go mobile or if you want the stability because you wanna do downloads.
there's even another type of service that you can get if you focus on upload speeds,
like you wanna host an online radio or something..

just sayin' really that you have to choose which one really suits you best..
if you don't like your current service, find other options

yes, we all knew that when we signed up. here's what i posted again which i think you didn't read:

They advertised their Share-It service at up to 2mbps yet the actual speed stays at only around 100kbps! Subscribers are only getting 5% of what they are paying for with SmartBro Share it.

we would actually be extremely happy if smart can just give us 50% of the speed they advertised. heck, even if they just gave us a mere 25% of what they advertised, we would be happy already as that would already result to speeds of 512kbps, or 0.5mbps. but 5%? are you kidding? you're apologizing for smart because they are only able to give a mere 5% of what they advertised?

again, i already know about those things, and again, you didn't read what i posted. here, i'll paste what i already said in my first post:

*NOTE* that I made these tests in an area with 3.5G coverage, meaning the signal that I was getting is HSDPA, or High Speed Downlink Packet Access where the theoretical speed between my Share It Router and the cell site is 7.2MBPS.

so your apology for smart's behalf doesn't even count here - because i already know that my signal in my area is HSDPA, and that the speed between my location and the cell site is very fast, but it's the uplink connection that has problems.

i agree with you on that, i.e., i have friends who have smartbro connections that uses the canopy antenna also and they all get excellent connection speeds.

but we're not talking about the smartbro canopy here - we're talking about the Share-It service.

apologizing for their useless Share-It service just because they are able to offer good Canopy service is illogical at best.

i hope the share it technology or system they are using right now is just an adjustment..like the canopy at first was not that stable and good like now..its a new technology so i hope they are just upgrading or adjusting to it..its sad to say that the consumers carry the burden not them the company smart and they are making profit out of it! poor consumers!

actually. canopy is better than share it. i was a subscriber of the used to be 384kbps canopy and it was very stable. the only time i had a problem with my canopy was when it's line of sight was blocked by the coconut leaves. After transferring the canopy to the higher grounds, everything is back to business. and that was only 384kbps. i was getting at least 40Kbytes/s with canopy. i subscribed to share it because, i was thinking that with up to 2mbps speed if ever I'll get at least 50% of it its still faster than canopy. but i was totally disappointed. i am only getting a speed of not more than 0.50mbps. It took even a day just downloading a DirectX file from microsoft.

This was my simple comparison of the canopy against the share it. With canopy, my magicjack was very clear. note that magicjack needs at least 25kBytes/s upload. but with share it, my magicjack is useless.

With canopy, I made less than 10 calls to the hotline for the entire year. but with share it, I make calls and emails almost everyday.
