Ask lng ko mga master if ok ba ang windows xp sp3 sa mga bag o nga mobo ron nga nanginahanglan og mga ddr3 4gig pataas?
Some says nisamot daw kakusog ang xp if gamitan ani,,,,, some also says dli pwede kay ang require sa XP 3gig ra taman,,,,, some also said---4 gig pataas nga RAM require na og OS nga Vista or Windows 7?

64 bit OS needs at least 4 gig of memory, just look it up sa google about 64 bit architecture kai d ko maayo mo explain, it can be vista,win7 or even win xp . If mag 32bit OS ra ka you'll only get 3gig+ bisan pa og i-12gig-8gig pana nimo imong memory and yes Windows XP pwede kaayo sa new platforms but I'm not sure if nai complications or not kai wala pa ko ka suway sa new platform and wala ko kabasa og review about it if ever naa man. hehehe..

dili ang new mobos nga ddr3 magrequire ug 4gig pataas, ikaw raman magbu-ot pila imo ibutang. ma 512mb, ma 1gig, 2gig, 4gig etc.

it's the software or OS that have requirements. like example vista requires at least 512mb minimum and 2gig to be smooth.


regarding maximum memory. sa ako nabantayan, ang mga 32bit OS will limit you with only 4gig while 64bit OS pwede mulapaw 4gig. example sa 32bit nga 4gig ra ipakita.... 4gig imo ram unya naa kay 512mb video card, ang mugawas sa memory ana 3.5gig ram becoz 512mb video card plus 3.5gig ram equals 4gig limit. mao na ako nabantayan.

2gig ram with 1gig video card = displayed ram 2gig
3gig ram with 1gig video card = displayed ram 3gig
4gig ram with 1gig video card = displayed ram 3gig
4gig ram with 512mb video card= displayed ram 3.5gig
4gig ram with 1gig video card & 512mb sound card or whatever = displayed ram 2.5gig
6gig ram with 1gig video card = displayed ram 3gig
8gig ram with 1gig video card = displayed ram 3gig

Pero pag Vista bisan 32bit pwidi man ang 4GB RAM.

@guys, kinsay nakagamit og 32-bit XP w/ PAE and 4gig ram.. ma-detect gyud niya ang whole 4gig?.. tana lang ko kay feature mani sa xp pero la ko kasulay..

to answer the original question.
first, it does not matter to the OS what the memory type is: DDR, DDR2, DDR3, etc... it is transparent to the OS. there is no such OS that requires a specific type of memory

Windows XP SP3 32-bit can run just fine on 4gig memory, only that some of the memory are wasted. the the amount of the "unseen" memory may vary especially if you have a dedicated video card. if your video card has 1GB of dedicated memory, the total RAM that can be utilized by windows will go down to less than 3GB for a 4Gig-main memory system... this is the limitation of any 32-bit operating systems.
32-bit version of Windows 7 and Vista is affected with the same memory limit just as windows XP.
there is workaround for this(32-bit), google for PAE, but it is not very helpful either.

a single 32-bit windows Application can only utilize up to 2gig of memory regardless if windows sees 3.5Gb or more

to fully utilize memory larger than 4gb, use a 64-bit OS. ex. Windows XP x64, Windows Vista 64-bit, Windows 7 64-bit, 64-bit Linuxes, MacOS X Snow Leopard i think.


32-bit windows 7 or Vista can run with as low as 512mb of main memory. don't start arguing.
it is not that you need at least 4gb of memory for a 64-bit OS like Windows 7 64-bit or Windows XP x64, it is, however, capable of utilizing 4gb or more.. 64-bit applications are also required.

hope this make things a little clearer. don't be compelled by the maketing hype.
you don't need a 4gb for just browsing the web reading this. maybe in the future... but i still doubt since a it is very hard to make a 4gb webpage
