you mean you do not depend on the power company to have electricity? wires are there to transmit power in a usable form.
you can buy portable wind generators (from china)
or what they did to some remote islands using solar power or wave power.
If you have a river you can dam, then use mini hydro power.
If all else fails: get a diesel generator. This is expensive but YOu will HAVE electricity.
If you notice the street lights in china's major highways; no wires, there is a solar panel for each street lamp.

if iapply nis pilipinas with our current frequency nga 60 HZ kinahanglan kag antena nga pirting taasa. para ma transmit ug recieve ang kuryente.. very impraktikal
nikola tesla experimented with it
people then thought he was crazy
In Belgium, I noticed that the digital parking meters had their own solar panel. hehe
As for wireless technology, it is currently undergoing research. A cellphone company(was that nokia? I forgot) has already implemented the simplest way of recharging the battery wirelessly. The method involved the most obvious way which is too get energy from electromagnetic radiation from the surroundings. It recharges the battery slowly but will take a long time to get a full charge
As for practical fully efficient wireless power, we might see it in the future. Some physicists at MIT are currently taking this is challenge. hehehe
